Hello, my name is Paul. I am a dedicated cat sitter based in Macclesfield with a lifelong passion for animal welfare. I pride myself on being extremely reliable, caring, and attentive to the unique needs of every cat I visit. I understand that cats require a specialized approach—focusing on patience, respect for their territory, and recognizing the subtle body language that ensures they feel safe and relaxed.
My background is rooted in professional animal behavior; I have studied canine and feline psychology/welfare at the Institute of Pet Behaviour Consultants and Reaseheath College. While I have worked extensively with police forces and display teams in training dogs to a high standard, I apply that same level of professional discipline and behavioral insight to my cat sitting, ensuring your pets are in expert hands.
A Position of Trust
Beyond my work with animals, I am a professional musician and teacher (www.thecocktailpianist.co.uk). Having worked in customers' homes for over 20 years, I deeply value the position of trust you place in me.
No Signage
To ensure your home’s security and privacy while you are away, I work in my own clothes and use a vehicle with no branding or signage. This ensures a discreet service that does not advertise your absence to the neighborhood.

If it is your first time booking me for your dog walking or cat sitting then I am more than happy to first arrange a time to meet you and your dog/cat at no cost. You can then show me your pet care routine, I will listen and write down exactly how you would like everything done.
There is no extra cost for meeting you and your pet, It would also be no problem if you wanted to meet a second time before you decide if you want to take the booking. There is also no cost for the collection or the return of your key. I return the key to you when you let me know you are safely home.
After you have first made contact with me we will then arrange a day/time for me to come out to your home to meet you and your cat. This will be free for you and it will be an unhurried meeting where I can meet both you and your cat/s.
To begin I will always show you my ID for you to take a photograph and so you know exactly who I am and have my address stored on your phone.
I can then take this time to learn your cat's likes and dislikes, where and when they eat, what they like to eat and also where the litter is kept.
I will also ask you a few questions such as which vets you attend, the name on your pet insurance and how many visits for the booking you will need.
I will also give you my business cards which you can keep for yourself or maybe for you to give your neighbour if you want them to have a contact number for your cat sitter.
If you are then happy with everything we have discussed and would like the booking to go ahead this is usually when I would take your key and also payment for the booking.

People often ask if a cat sitter is the best option for a shy, timid or a nervous cat. As cats love their familiar environment this will usually always be the better option than a cattery. Cats are cautious by nature and so this is something I am used to when working as your pet sitter.
At our initial consultation I will always ask about the character of your cat which means as I begin caring for your pet I will do everything to make sure they feel safe and secure in your home.
I will ask you where your cats favourite hiding places are so I can quietly do a wellbeing check and I will also be monitoring your cats food and water intake. I may also sit at a safe distance so your cat can slowly get used to me and/or place treats a safe distance from your them. All this will go at your cats pace and not mine - and usually at some point they will begin to approach me but if not that is also fine as we know they are safe and well.
Paul is an established cat sitter in Macclesfield, 365 days a year the best care for your pet.
Please reach me at paul@thecocktailpianist.co.uk or on 07936 054483 if you cannot find an answer to your cat sitting questions.
The best time to make your cat sitter booking would be as soon as you know your travel dates. I get extremely busy during key holiday times throughout the year and so to avoid disappointment an early booking is recommended. If you are arranging last minute travel plans it would still be worth contacting me as I will sometimes have availability for you.
My cat sitting covers Macclesfield and surrounding areas inc. Chelford, Tytheringon, Alderley Edge, Bollington and Prestbury. I only work as a cat sitter locally now in these areas and so my availability would allow one, two or even three visits to your cat each day. I can work as a cat sitter 365 days a year.
Before your first cat sitting booking I always arrange a consultation to meet you and your cat, if you are then happy to proceed with the booking this is when I would take the key and payment. After the booking I can either hold on to the key or if you prefer I will return the key back to you once you are safely home. There is no fee for returning the key.
I originally started the business years ago offering dog walking (hence the name). However, over time, my cat-sitting services became so popular that I decided to focus exclusively on feline care. I kept the name because many of my long-term clients in Macclesfield already knew and trusted the brand-even though my "clients" are now strictly of the cat variety!
During our first meeting, I'll take down your vet's details and your pet insurance information. If your cat appears unwell, I will contact you immediately. If emergency care is needed, I will take your cat to your designated vet (or the nearest 24-hour emergency vet) to ensure they get the help they need.
Yes, absolutely. I provide regular updates via WhatsApp or text, including photos and videos of your cat. I find this gives owners great peace of mind seeing their pet happy and relaxed in their own home.
Below you will find a small selection of my cat sitting testimonials. Also, although not connected with this business if you click on www.thecocktailpianist.co.uk you will see a further page of testimonials to give you a full picture of my work ethic. As I have now been working locally in Macclesfield as a cat sitter and also a tutor for over 20 years I would always be able to offer further testimonials if needed.
I have now known Paul for around 8 years. In this time he has consistently been fantastic with my little dog as well as being a great tutor for my daughters. He is reliable, honest and a person of integrity. I have done and will continue to recommend him.
Paul has worked in our home now for several years. He has always been reliable and respectful of our home.
To know Paul is a privilege. He has been visiting me at my house for several months; on a regular basis. His moral suasion is unmeasured, he has a wonderful sense of humour, and, always imparts a well tempered countenance. I never feel uncomfortable when he is around; a joy to know. Ronald
Home safely Paul, thanks for all your hard work.
Despite Paul being a dog/cat sitter, I enquired about feeding our rabbits. He was only too happy to oblige. He met with us to find out exactly what we required. I found him to be very thorough, knowledgeable and responsive to our requests. Paul is a kind and trustworthy person who takes great care of our pets. While we're away, i need never worry about my animals. i strongly recommend his services
Thanks Paul, you've definitely been the most thoughtful of our cat feeders and I will happily contact you the next time Barry needs looking after.
